As a subconsultant to Arcadis, CSM is providing construction management and inspection services for biological nutrient removal updates at the Rockaway and Coney Island Wastewater Treatment Plants.
The project entails draining the aeration tanks, repairing all spalled concrete walls and floor areas, demolishing the existing equipment including the aeration system, piping, and drain troughs. A new aeration system will be installed which includes a new polymer spray system. Aeration piping and air distribution heads will be arranged on the aeration tank floors. Overhead compressed air supply piping, pumps and compressors will be replaced.
Additional equipment to be installed includes: mixers with platforms, bafflewalls, dissolved oxygen probes, froth control, chemical storage and a new polymer treatment system. CSM inspects demolition work and oversees concrete repairs within the aeration tanks.
